Description:

English Breakfast (Loose Leaf) offers a base of robust Assam and Darjeeling black tea.

Taste:

Davidson's English Breakfast (Loose Leaf) is a full-bodied black tea with a malty finish.

Origin:

Davidson's organic black tea is sourced from family tea gardens in the Darjeeling and Assam regions of India. These organic gardens are known for their abundance of wildlife. This particular image features a monkey boldly standing amongst the tea plants in the Banaspaty Tea Estate, where we exclusively source our Assam black tea.

History:

It is suspected that English Breakfast may have gotten its name in America, not England. The blend is so named because of the rich blend's complement to a typical, hearty English-style breakfast.

Ingredients:

Organic black tea*. [* denotes Fair Trade Certified™]

Brewing:

  1. Bring fresh, filtered water to a boil.
  2. Add 2 grams of tea to a infuser, or straight into an 8-oz. mug.
  3. Pour the heated water into the mug.
  4. Steep for 3-5 minutes.
  5. Strain tea leaves, or take out the infuser.
  6. Sip and enjoy Davidson’s organic tea.

It has a very complex aroma, it smells of citrus, malt, and currants, with a little bit of pine and wet rock. The flavor is slightly less complex but still nice. The citrus is very much in the front, with a tangerine and mandarin-like quality; it is creamy and malty, with some wet wood and thyme undertones. It will take some trial and error to make the tea less astringent because when I first brewed it, it was like sucking on an unripe persimmon.

If you're still buying the tea bag EB from a grocery store, stop it now and buy this. After you do, you will always wonder why you settled for that inferior cup when you could have been drinking this. The second brew is almost strong enough to always want milk in it, but sometimes it's good with just honey. In other words, I drink both first and second brew with milk or milk and honey. You can always adjust the amount of leaves you use too if you enjoy frugality.
